Member Protection and Code Conduct

Safeguarding our children, young people and all members.

In our club, we take our role in providing a safe, supportive and caring environment for every child and young person in our club very seriously. Safeguarding our young people is our priority.

The legislative regulations and the processes, systems and practices we have in place, have been developed and actioned to ensure that our members know their roles, rights and responsibilities in ensuring our children and young people are safe.

I encourage every member to play an active role in safeguarding our young people. We all have a responsibility to keep children safe. You can begin today, by gaining greater understanding and awareness of SLSA’s Member Protection Policy and Child Safe Policy.

Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO)

A culture of safety is paramount for all members. To provide ‘voice’ for our members to raise any concerns or complaints, Nicola Tuckey has taken on the role of our club’s MPIO.

MPIO’s provide information and guidance for members who may have an issue or grievance at our club. They act to help diffuse the situation and suggest options available in accordance with the Complaints Resolution Policy. They DO NOT investigate complaints.

In all SLSA’s clubs, an MPIO is scheduled to become a mandatory requirement by 2023/24. Our club has had an MPIO active in the role for the past 3 seasons, and this season Nicola has volunteered to take on this role. You will see Nicola on the beach wearing a pink MPIO vest, so take the time to have a chat and simply get to now Nicola and the role she plays in our club.
